Sun Valley Spiritual Film Festival

The Open Room and the Sun Valley Spiritual Film Festival (SVSFF) are collaborating on a special juried art exhibition to benefit and raise awareness for the annual film festival. The exhibition will take place at The Open Room, located in the Walnut Avenue Mall, Ketchum, 208.622.0222, from Monday, August 31st through Saturday, September 19th. All of the artwork may be purchased through a silent auction during that time, with half of the proceeds going to benefit SVSFF, and half to the artist. In addition, The Open Room will be donating a portion of proceeds from sales of furniture and accessories. This is an exhibition which will appeal to just about everyone, with work ranging from photographs to ceramics to watercolors. Starting silent auction bid prices range from $75 to $2,400.

Artists throughout Idaho were invited to participate in this event and the response was enthusiastic, with an impressive array of artwork submitted. A jury of 4 members from the Wood River arts community reviewed all submitted work and chose 21 pieces for the final exhibition. “The range and caliber of work we have received demonstrates the talent and creative diversity of artists throughout the state of Idaho. I am deeply impressed with the submissions and excited about this exhibition, which we hope will become an annual event.” says Claudia Aulum, owner of The Open Room. “We are delighted to have this opportunity to collaborate with and support the Spiritual Film Festival. It is a truly inspiring organization, celebrating diversity by showing films about the human spirit, from directors all over the world.”

Everyone is invited to stop by to see the exhibition and to bid on artwork in the silent auction, which will run the course of the show between August 31 and September 19. The Open Room also welcomes everyone for its Gallery Walk Reception on Friday September 4th, 5-8PM. Many of the artists who have generously contributed work will be at the reception as will some of the organizers of the SVSFF. Light horsd’oeuvres and wine from CIRO will be served, live music by Art Wallace, and Asian antiques by Shangri-La will be shown with the new fall showroom. This event is free of charge; however donations for the SVSFF are gratefully accepted.
