Furniture Discounts & Key Shopping TipsWhether shopping in a furniture store or online, always ask if there are any additional discounts, specials or coupons available - even if there is already a sale. Whatever you do, don't commit to a price until you have reasonably tried getting a discount. Many shoppers automatically just pay the prices as marked without ever asking for any type of discount. It isn't uncommon for discounts to be available just for the asking, which can save you as much as 10% or even more right off the top. Keep in mind the salesperson's job is to overcome objections from you about making the purchase. No matter how happy you are with a piece of furniture keep it to yourself and focus your objections on the price. Don't be too surprised if they can accommodate some type of discount for you to make the purchase. Keep in mind that some retailers really can't discount and some stores have strict policies against doing so. Many high volume discount dealers really can't afford to give additional discounts and you'll be lucky if you get a free bottle of polish with your purchase. On the other end, stores with higher mark ups may be able to take off as much as 20% or more to compete with a true volume dealer. The bottom line is to always work at getting a discount before committing to a purchase when furniture shopping. However, in the process don't offend the salesperson by treating them like a used car salesman - often they may have gladly given you a discount if you had simply been nice. By building a friendly relationship with a single dealer and its employees you could actually save thousands of dollars over the years. Key Tips to Improve Your Furniture Shopping Experience
