FUTON BED & MATTRESS SHOPPING TIPS
When shopping for a futon bed and mattress consider the styles and finishes of other decor in the area where it will be placed. Futon frames are available in many finishes in both wood and metal to compliment your decor. As for the frame, you want to make sure it's well made and will hold up to the use that will be placed on it. The folding portion that supports the mattress should be heavy enough that it won't bend, and it should fold out easily. As for the futon mattress, it should be at least six inches thick, anything less than this won't be comfortable. The mattress should also be made of cotton or another material such as foam or wool combined with cotton. There are also other styles including innerspring models, however we don't recommend them (just our preference). You also want to make sure the futon mattress provides even support and that it doesn't feel lumpy. Also, check the clearance on the frame to make sure you don't have to place it too far from the wall.
