Keep in mind you don't want the frame to overwhelm the photo. For example, a small photo in a wide frame will be engulfed. As for matting colors, keep the colors of you decor in mind. If you're buying a frame for a particular photo, it's a good idea to measure the picture and think about these measurements in regards to the scale of the frame and matting.
